GW7ERI AMATEUR RADIO TUTSHILL - CHEPSTOW MONMOUTHSHIRE UNITED KINGDOM - CQ14 - IO81QP Providing Live Weather data for the Chepstow area
|
Hello, and welcome to my web site!
Why GW7ERI? Well, that was the call sign issued to me by the then Dept. of Trade and Industry when I passed my Amateur Radio exam in 1989. In addition to Amateur Radio related content on this site, I also provide current details of local weather conditions here in Tutshill, a village close to the town of Chepstow.

Live weather data, collected by an Oregon Scientific WMR 968 weather station, is transmitted every twenty minutes via the Amateur Radio APRS network. These transmissions are sent via the APRSIS internet web server. A facility for weather data transmissions on 144.800Mhz APRS frequency exists, and a low power RF beacon is transmitted every 30 minutes for those within radio range. This uses the SSID GW7ERI-1. The same data is sent by FTP to the internet (this web site) using Cumulus software. The computers also upload to the UK Met Office WOW project, and CWOP (Citizen Weather Observer Program) servers.
Use the links below to find out more about Amateur Radio and the current weather conditions in Chepstow. Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you enjoy your visit! Alex - GW7ERI
